Ingredients
- 400 g tuna steak
- 300 g canned tomatoes (crushed or chopped)
- 50 g capers, drained
- 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Pat the tuna steaks dry and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear the tuna for 1–2 minutes per side until lightly browned, then remove and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium and add remaining olive oil.
- Sauté minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add canned tomatoes and stir, scraping the pan to release flavor.
- Simmer the sauce for about 10 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Add capers and mix well.
- Return tuna to the pan and spoon sauce over it.
- Cook gently for 2–4 minutes until desired doneness.
- Serve warm with sauce.

- Do not overcook tuna to keep it tender.
- Add chili flakes for a spicy kick.
- Black olives can enhance the Mediterranean flavor.
- Fresh herbs like parsley or basil can be added before serving.
