Description

A classic Italian frozen dessert made with layers of ice cream, a surprise filling, and a crisp chocolate shell coating.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups chocolate ice cream, slightly softened
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream, slightly softened
  • 1/2 cup pitted cherries or chocolate ganache
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder or finely chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Line a small bowl with plastic wrap, leaving overhang.
  2. Press chocolate ice cream into the bottom and sides to form a shell.
  3. Add a spoonful of cherries or ganache in the center.
  4. Cover with vanilla ice cream and smooth the top.
  5. Wrap and freeze for at least 2 hours until firm.
  6. Remove from mold and keep frozen while preparing coating.
  7. Melt chocolate chips with coconut oil until smooth.
  8. Coat the frozen tartufo with melted chocolate quickly.
  9. Sprinkle with cocoa powder or nuts.
  10. Freeze again for 15–20 minutes before serving.
