Description

Strawberry Dump Cake is an easy and comforting dessert made with sweet strawberry pie filling, buttery cake mix topping, and minimal prep work. This warm cobbler-style dessert bakes into a golden, fruity treat that is perfect for family gatherings, potlucks, or quick weeknight desserts.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (21 ounces) strawberry pie filling
  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) yellow cake mix
  • 3/4 cup cold butter, sliced into thin pats
  • Cooking spray or extra butter for greasing the pan
  • Vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Pour the strawberry pie filling into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the strawberry filling, covering it completely.
  4. Arrange the thin slices of cold butter evenly over the top of the cake mix.
  5. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
  6. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
  7. Serve warm on its own or with vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • Use strawberry cake mix for a stronger berry flavor.
  • White cake mix creates a lighter and sweeter dessert.
  • Add fresh sliced strawberries for extra texture.
  • Blueberries or raspberries can be added for a mixed berry variation.
  • Top with chopped pecans or walnuts for crunch.
  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving for a decorative finish.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Freeze for up to 2 months in an airtight container.
  • Reheat in the microwave or oven before serving for best texture.
