Description
A comforting slow cooker casserole with tender pierogi, savory sausage, and a rich, creamy cheese sauce.
Ingredients
- Frozen pierogi 500 g
- Halal beef or chicken sausage 300 g sliced
- Small onion 1 finely chopped
- Shredded cheddar cheese 2 cups
- Shredded mozzarella cheese 1 cup
- Cream of mushroom soup 1 can (300 ml)
- Sour cream 1/2 cup
- Milk 1/2 cup
- Garlic cloves 2 minced
- Black pepper 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika 1/2 teaspoon
- Parsley 1 tablespoon chopped optional
Instructions
- Lightly grease the slow cooker.
- Layer half of the frozen pierogi on the bottom.
- Add half of the sausage and onion, then sprinkle some cheese.
- Repeat layers with remaining pierogi, sausage, onion, and cheese.
- Mix cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, garlic, pepper, and paprika until smooth.
- Pour mixture evenly over layers.
- Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or high for 2–3 hours.
- Garnish with parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- Do not overcook to prevent drying out.
- Add vegetables like spinach or peppers for variation.
- Stir gently before serving if desired.
- Store leftovers up to 3 days refrigerated.
- Add milk when reheating if sauce thickens.
