Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (250 g)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 3/4 cup warm water (180 ml)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 slices halal turkey or chicken deli slices
- 4 oz fresh mozzarella (120 g), sliced
- 1 cup fresh arugula
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Add olive oil and gradually add warm water while mixing.
- Knead until a soft dough forms, about 4–5 minutes.
- Cover and let the dough rest for 20 minutes.
- Divide into 4 pieces and roll each into an 8-inch circle.
- Heat a dry skillet over medium-high heat and cook each flatbread for 1–2 minutes per side.
- Place turkey or chicken, mozzarella, and arugula on each warm flatbread.
- Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle black pepper if desired.
- Fold in half and serve warm.
Notes
- Keep dough soft for tender flatbread.
- Do not overcook to avoid dryness.
- Use fresh mozzarella for best flavor and texture.
- Fill just before serving to keep bread from getting soggy.
