Description

A rich and creamy Nana’s Homemade Chocolate Pudding made from simple pantry staples like cocoa powder, sugar, milk, and cornstarch. This classic stovetop dessert has a silky texture and deep chocolate flavor, perfect served warm or chilled.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream (optional topping)
  • Chocolate shavings (optional topping)
  • Fresh berries (optional topping)
  • Crushed cookies (optional topping)
  • Chopped nuts (optional topping)

Instructions

  1. Sift sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt into a medium saucepan.
  2. Whisk dry ingredients together until fully combined and smooth.
  3. Slowly pour in milk while whisking continuously to prevent lumps.
  4. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture begins to thicken.
  5. Continue cooking for about 10 minutes until pudding coats the back of a spoon.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  7. Pour into serving bowls and serve warm or chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

  • Whisk constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
  • Pudding thickens further as it cools.
