Ingredients
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Whipped cream (optional topping)
- Chocolate shavings (optional topping)
- Fresh berries (optional topping)
- Crushed cookies (optional topping)
- Chopped nuts (optional topping)
Instructions
- Sift sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt into a medium saucepan.
- Whisk dry ingredients together until fully combined and smooth.
- Slowly pour in milk while whisking continuously to prevent lumps.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture begins to thicken.
- Continue cooking for about 10 minutes until pudding coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour into serving bowls and serve warm or chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
