This Magical 30-Minute Dorito Casserole is a cheesy, crunchy, and comforting dinner made with seasoned ground beef, creamy layers, crunchy tortilla chips, and melted cheese. It’s the perfect quick family meal for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies (10 ounces)
- 1 can cream of chicken soup (10.5 ounces)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 bag nacho cheese tortilla chips, lightly crushed (about 9 ounces)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional toppings: chopped green onions, sliced black olives, diced tomatoes, jalapeño slices, fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook for 3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Add taco seasoning, salt, black pepper, and water. Stir and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Mix in diced tomatoes with green chilies and cook briefly until combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine cream of chicken soup and sour cream until smooth.
- Spread half of the crushed tortilla chips into the baking dish.
- Layer half of the beef mixture over the chips.
- Spread half of the creamy soup mixture over the beef.
- Sprinkle with 1 cup cheddar cheese.
- Repeat the layers with remaining chips, beef mixture, creamy mixture, and cheeses.
- Top with mozzarella cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- Add optional toppings and serve warm.
