Ingredients

  • 12 ounces bow tie pasta
  • 1 lb halal Italian-style sausage (beef or chicken)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Cook bow tie pasta in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet and cook sausage, breaking it into pieces, until browned.
  3. Add diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Add bell pepper and cook for 3–5 minutes until slightly tender.
  6. Pour in diced tomatoes and tomato sauce, stirring well.
  7. Add oregano, basil, paprika, salt, pepper, and chili flakes. Simmer for 8–10 minutes.
  8. Add cooked pasta and toss to coat evenly.
  9. Stir in parmesan cheese until melted.
  10. Garnish with parsley and serve.
