Description

Soft and fluffy homemade breadsticks with a light, airy texture and a buttery garlic-herb topping, perfect as a side for meals or a warm snack.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • Pinch of salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add salt and oil, then gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 45–60 minutes until doubled.
  5. Punch down dough and divide into 12 pieces.
  6. Roll each piece into breadstick shapes and place on a lined baking sheet.
  7. Let rest 15–20 minutes while preheating oven to 200°C.
  8. Bake for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.
  9. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder, parsley, and salt.

  • Do not add too much flour to keep dough soft.
