Description

A hearty and comforting hobo casserole made with layers of seasoned ground beef, tender potatoes, creamy sauce, and melted cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (300 g) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Cook ground beef in a skillet until browned, then add onion and cook until soft. Drain excess fat.
  3. Season beef with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Mix cream of mushroom soup with milk until smooth.
  5. Layer potatoes, beef mixture, soup mixture, and cheese in the dish.
  6. Repeat layers, finishing with cheese on top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake another 20–25 minutes until golden and potatoes are tender.
  9. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
