Description

Healthy Nutella is a smooth, creamy chocolate-hazelnut spread made with wholesome ingredients and naturally sweetened for a healthier twist on the classic favorite. Perfect for toast, pancakes, fruit, or spoonfuls straight from the jar, this homemade version is rich, nutty, and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups raw hazelnuts
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 cup milk of choice
  • 2 ounces dark chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread the hazelnuts on a baking sheet in a single layer.
  3. Roast the hazelnuts for 10 to 12 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden.
  4. Transfer the warm hazelnuts to a clean kitchen towel and rub them together to remove most of the skins.
  5. Add the hazelnuts to a food processor or high-speed blender and blend for several minutes until smooth and creamy.
  6. Add the cocoa powder, maple syrup or honey, melted coconut oil, vanilla extract, sea salt, milk, and melted dark chocolate.
  7. Blend again until completely smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.
  8. If the mixture is too thick, add an extra tablespoon of milk until the desired consistency is reached.
  9. Transfer the Healthy Nutella to a clean jar or airtight container.
  10. Allow it to cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • Use roasted hazelnuts to save preparation time.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon or espresso powder for extra depth of flavor.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Let chilled spread sit at room temperature before serving for a softer texture.
  • Use almond milk or oat milk for a dairy-free version.
