Ingredients
- 4 large eggs, separated
- 120 g granulated sugar
- 100 g cake flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 170°C (340°F) and prepare an 8-inch cake pan with parchment paper.
- Separate eggs into yolks and whites.
- Beat egg whites with salt until stiff peaks form.
- Whisk egg yolks with sugar until pale and creamy, then add vanilla.
- Fold in sifted cake flour gently into yolk mixture.
- Add one-third of egg whites to loosen batter, then fold in remaining whites carefully.
- Pour batter into pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
