Description

Soft and buttery sugar cookie bars topped with creamy pastel frosting, perfect for festive occasions and easy to prepare in one pan.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Food coloring (pastel shades)
  • Optional: sprinkles or colored sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet mixture to form a soft dough.
  6. Press dough evenly into the prepared pan and smooth the surface.
  7. Bake for 18–22 minutes until edges are lightly golden and center is set. Cool completely.
  8. For frosting, beat butter until creamy, then add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  9. Divide frosting and tint with food coloring. Spread over cooled bars.
  10. Decorate with sprinkles if desired, slice, and serve.
