Description

Light and crispy fried calamari with a golden coating and tender interior, perfect as a quick and delicious appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 500 g calamari rings (11.5 cm thick)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Oil for deep frying (sunflower or canola)
  • Lemon wedges for serving
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse calamari under cold water and pat completely dry.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, and optional spices.
  3. Heat oil to 180°C (350–365°F) in a deep pan.
  4. Toss calamari in the flour mixture and shake off excess.
  5. Fry in small batches for 1.5–2 minutes until golden.
  6. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and garnish if desired.
