Description

Ingredients
- 1/2 lb calamari rings and tentacles
- 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Optional: lemon wedges
- Optional: marinara sauce or garlic aioli
Instructions
- Place calamari and shrimp in a bowl and cover with buttermilk. Soak for 20–30 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
- Heat oil to 175°C (350°F) in a deep pan.
- Remove seafood from buttermilk and let excess drip off.
- Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, coating evenly.
- Fry in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Sprinkle lightly with salt while hot.
- Serve immediately with lemon wedges and dipping sauce.

- Do not overcrowd the pan to keep oil temperature stable.
- Cornstarch ensures a lighter, crispier coating.
- Serve immediately for best texture.
- Reheat in oven or air fryer, not microwave.
