Description

These Crispy Bang Bang Salmon Bites are tender salmon cubes coated in a lightly crisp crust and tossed in a creamy sweet-and-spicy bang bang sauce. Quick to prepare and packed with bold flavor, they make a delicious dinner, lunch, or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound skinless salmon fillet, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Cooked rice for serving (optional)
  • Steamed vegetables for serving (optional)
  • Fresh parsley or green onions for garnish (optional)
  • Extra sweet chili sauce for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillet dry with paper towels and cut it into evenly sized cubes.
  2. Place the salmon cubes into a medium bowl.
  3. Sprinkle the cornstarch, salt, and black pepper over the salmon and toss gently until coated.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the salmon cubes in a single layer without overcrowding the pan.
  6. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden brown and lightly crispy, about 8 minutes total.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, and lemon juice until smooth.
  8. Taste the sauce and adjust sweetness or spice if desired.
  9. Transfer the cooked salmon bites to a clean bowl.
  10. Drizzle half of the bang bang sauce over the salmon and gently toss to coat.
  11. Serve immediately with the remaining sauce on the side.
  12. Pair with rice, vegetables, salad, or lettuce cups if desired.

Notes

  • Patting the salmon dry helps create a crispier texture.
  • Do not overcrowd the skillet or the salmon may steam instead of crisp.
  • Adjust the sriracha amount to control the spice level.
  • Arrowroot powder can replace cornstarch for a gluten-free option.
  • Air fry the salmon at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes for an alternative cooking method.
  • The bang bang sauce can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 5 days.
  • Serve with rice bowls, noodles, salads, or roasted vegetables.
