Description

A classic homestyle meatloaf made with tender ground beef, crackers, and a sweet tangy glaze, perfect for a comforting family meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup crushed butter crackers
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, crushed crackers, onion, bell pepper, eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place in the prepared dish.
  4. Mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard to make the glaze.
  5. Spread half of the glaze over the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven, spread remaining glaze, and return to oven.
  8. Bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until fully cooked (internal temp 70°C/160°F).
  9. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

  • Let the meatloaf rest before slicing to retain juices.
  • You can substitute crackers with breadcrumbs or oats.
