Description

Chinese Pepper Steak is a quick and flavorful stir-fry dish made with tender strips of beef, crisp bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes tossed in a savory soy-based sauce. It is a restaurant-style meal that is easy to make at home and perfect for serving over rice or noodles.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 red onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, cut into wedges
  • 2 cups cooked rice (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice beef thinly against the grain.
  2. Mix soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and ginger to create marinade.
  3. Coat beef in marinade and let sit for 15 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet or wok and stir-fry beef in batches until browned.
  5. Remove beef and sauté onion until slightly softened.
  6. Add bell pepper and cook briefly to keep it crisp.
  7. Return beef to the pan and mix well.
  8. Add tomatoes and cook until slightly softened.
  9. Serve hot over rice and garnish with green onions.
