Description
Cheesy Garlic Shrimp Hand Pies are flaky, golden pastry pockets filled with creamy garlic shrimp, melted cheese, and herbs. They are savory, rich, and perfect as appetizers, snacks, or a light seafood meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled, deveined, and finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 refrigerated pie crusts or 2 puff pastry sheets
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat and sauté garlic for 30 seconds.
- Add chopped shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes until pink and cooked through.
- Remove from heat and stir in cream cheese, mozzarella, paprika, salt, pepper, and parsley until creamy.
- Roll out pie crust or puff pastry and cut into circles.
- Spoon filling onto one half of each circle, leaving edges clear.
- Fold dough over to form half-moons and seal edges with a fork.
- Brush tops with beaten egg.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden and flaky.
- Cool slightly, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.
Notes
- Do not overfill to prevent leaking during baking.
- Puff pastry creates a lighter, flakier texture than pie crust.
- Frozen shrimp must be fully thawed and patted dry before cooking.
- Hand pies can be assembled ahead and refrigerated for 24 hours.
- Best served warm with dipping sauces like garlic mayo or marinara.
