Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (for glaze)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (for glaze)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a bundt pan thoroughly.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add dry ingredients alternating with milk, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in diced apples gently.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
- For glaze, heat brown sugar, butter, and cream until boiling, then simmer 2–3 minutes.
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and pour over cooled cake.
Notes
- Grease bundt pan well to prevent sticking.
- Do not overmix batter to keep cake tender.
- Use firm apples for best texture.
- Glaze should be poured while slightly warm.
- Flavor improves the next day.
