Description

Baked Apple Fritters are soft, fluffy, oven-baked treats filled with tender cinnamon-spiced apples and topped with a sweet vanilla glaze. They offer all the cozy flavor of traditional fritters in a lighter, healthier baked version perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel and dice apples, then toss with lemon juice.
  3. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients and mix gently without overmixing.
  6. Fold in diced apples evenly into the batter.
  7. Scoop batter onto baking sheet and lightly flatten each portion.
  8. Bake for 14–16 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  9. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make glaze.
  10. Drizzle glaze over warm fritters before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overmix batter to keep fritters soft and fluffy.
  • Firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best.
  • Fritters are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored and reheated.
  • Add nuts or dried fruit for extra texture and flavor.
  • Glaze can be skipped or replaced with caramel drizzle.
