Description

Crispy air fryer fish and chips with golden breaded fish and tender fries, offering a lighter version of the classic dish with less oil and full flavor.


Ingredients

  • For the fish:
  • 2 large white fish fillets (cod or haddock)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko)
  • Olive oil spray
  • For the chips:
  • 3 large potatoes, cut into fries
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • For serving:
  • Lemon wedges (optional)
  • Tartar sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Soak cut potatoes in cold water for 20 minutes, then drain and dry.
  2. Toss fries with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. Preheat air fryer to 200°C.
  4. Cook fries for 15–18 minutes, shaking halfway through.
  5. Prepare breading station with flour mixture, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
  6. Coat fish in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs.
  7. Spray air fryer basket and place fish inside.
  8. Cook fish at 200°C for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway.
  9. Ensure fish is crispy and flakes easily.
  10. Serve with fries, lemon wedges, and tartar sauce.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd air fryer for best crispiness.
  • Dry potatoes thoroughly to ensure crispy fries.
  • Flip fish halfway for even cooking.
  • Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
