Description

This whipped matcha latte is a creamy, vibrant green drink made by whipping matcha powder with sugar and cream, then layering it over cold milk and ice. It offers a rich, earthy flavor with a light and fluffy texture, perfect for a refreshing twist on the classic matcha latte.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons matcha powder (high quality)
  • 120 grams (½ cup) heavy whipping cream, cold
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 400 grams (1¾ cups) milk (whole or oat milk preferred)
  • Ice (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the matcha powder with 6 tablespoons of cold heavy cream to form a smooth paste, eliminating lumps.
  2. Add the remaining heavy cream and sugar to the bowl.
  3. Whip the mixture using a hand mixer or whisk until soft peaks form (2–4 minutes with a mixer).
  4. Fill two glasses halfway with ice and pour in the milk.
  5. Spoon the whipped matcha over the milk to form a top layer.
  6. Stir before drinking to combine the flavors and textures.

Notes

  • Use ceremonial-grade matcha for brighter color and smoother flavor.
  • Swap heavy cream and milk for plant-based alternatives to make it dairy-free.
  • Reduce sugar or use honey/maple syrup for less sweetness.
  • Skip ice and heat milk for a warm version.
  • Best served fresh; store whipped topping separately in fridge for up to 24 hours.
