Description

This warm and creamy vanilla chai latte blends bold chai spices with smooth vanilla and rich steamed milk for a cozy, café-style drink made easily at home. Perfect for cool days or relaxing moments, it’s flavorful, comforting, and customizable.

Ingredients

  • 2 chai tea bags
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk (whole or plant-based)

Instructions

  1. Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a small saucepan or kettle.
  2. Add the chai tea bags and steep for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the tea bags, squeezing out excess liquid into the pot.
  4. Stir in sugar and vanilla extract until dissolved.
  5. In a separate small saucepan, heat milk over medium heat until hot but not boiling (or microwave for 1–1½ minutes).
  6. Optional: Froth the milk using a milk frother or shake in a jar and microwave for foam.
  7. Pour the chai mixture into a mug and top with steamed milk.
  8. Stir gently and optionally top with whipped cream, cinnamon, or nutmeg.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Use decaf chai for a caffeine-free version.
  • Try honey, maple syrup, or vanilla syrup instead of sugar.
  • Make it iced by cooling the chai and serving over ice with cold milk.
  • Add extra spices like ginger or cardamom for a bolder flavor.
  • Use oat or almond milk for a dairy-free alternative.
  • Double the recipe for serving guests or meal prep.
  • Store leftover chai base in the fridge for up to 24 hours and reheat with fresh milk.
