Description

These Tomato Basil Mozzarella Toasts are crispy, cheesy, and bursting with fresh flavor. Perfect as a quick snack, appetizer, or light meal, they combine juicy tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and fragrant basil on toasted bread.


Ingredients

  • 8 slices crusty bread (sourdough or Italian)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 large ripe tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 8 slices fresh mozzarella cheese (about 170 g / 6 oz)
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange bread slices on the sheet and brush both sides with olive oil.
  3. Toast in oven for 5–7 minutes, flipping once, until lightly golden.
  4. Rub or spread minced garlic onto the warm toasted bread.
  5. Top each toast with sliced tomato.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, and dried oregano or Italian seasoning.
  7. Add a slice of mozzarella to each toast.
  8. Return to oven and bake for 6–8 minutes, until cheese melts and bubbles.
  9. Sprinkle with fresh basil and serve warm.
