Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef or turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and parsley until just combined.
- Form into 1-inch meatballs and place on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- While meatballs are baking, combine honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, and crushed red pepper flakes in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Stir in the cornstarch-water mixture and cook for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Add baked meatballs to the sauce and stir to coat evenly. Let them simmer together for a few minutes.
- Serve hot over rice, noodles, or as an appetizer.
Notes
- Adjust red pepper flakes to control the heat level.
- Use ground chicken or plant-based meat for variation.
- To save time, use store-bought frozen meatballs and toss them in the sauce.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions for extra flavor.
- Double the sauce for extra glaze if serving with rice or noodles.
