Description
These spinach rolls wrapped in golden puff pastry are a savory delight filled with garlic-sautéed spinach and salty feta cheese. Crisp on the outside and creamy inside, they make perfect party snacks, appetizers, or light lunches.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 package (10 oz) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and thoroughly drained
- Salt, to taste
- 1 package (4 oz) crumbled feta cheese
- 3 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add drained spinach and cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt to taste. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
- Stir crumbled feta into the cooled spinach mixture until combined. Set aside.
- Unfold one puff pastry sheet on a floured surface and cut it in half lengthwise.
- Roll each rectangle slightly to widen. Spoon about one-sixth of the filling down the center.
- Fold one side over the filling, brush the other edge with egg wash (egg + milk), and roll to seal. Press seam gently.
- Brush top with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Cut into 6 pieces and place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
- Repeat with remaining pastry sheets and filling to make 36 rolls.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Ensure spinach is thoroughly squeezed dry to prevent soggy pastry.
- Can be assembled ahead and stored in the fridge or freezer before baking.
- Swap feta for goat cheese, ricotta, or mozzarella blends.
