Ingredients
- Lava Cakes:
- 4 ounces quality semi-sweet or dark chocolate
- ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- A pinch of ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 whole eggs
- 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- Whipped Cream Topping:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- ⅓ cup powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional Toppings:
- Fresh berries (such as blackberries or raspberries)
- Mint leaves
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease four 6-ounce ramekins. Set aside.
- In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt chocolate and butter together, stirring until smooth.
- Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Add egg yolks and whole eggs, whisking until smooth. Stir in flour just until combined.
- Divide batter evenly among ramekins, filling each about ¾ full.
- Bake for 13 minutes until edges are set and centers are soft. Let rest for 1 minute.
- Meanwhile, beat whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Run a knife around edges of ramekins and invert cakes onto plates. Top with whipped cream, berries, and mint if desired. Serve immediately.

- Do not overbake—centers should be soft and molten.
