Ingredients
4 tbsp butter
1 tbsp vegetable oil
⅓ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
¼ tsp salt
¼ cup all-purpose flour
⅓ cup cocoa powder
¼ cup chocolate chunks
Sea salt flakes for topping (optional)
Optional toppings: whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, or berries
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a 9×5 or 8×5-inch baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and vegetable oil together until smooth, or melt in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add granulated sugar and brown sugar to the melted butter mixture, whisking until fully combined.
- Stir in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until just combined.
- Whisk in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt until the dry ingredients disappear. Fold in the chocolate chunks.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
- Let the brownies cool completely before slicing into squares. Optionally, top with sea salt flakes or serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
Notes
- Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
- For a gooey texture, slightly underbake the brownies by checking for moist crumbs when testing with a toothpick.
- Can freeze brownies for up to 3 months. Wrap them tightly and store in a freezer-safe bag. Thaw at room temperature or microwave for a warm treat.
