Description

A quick and flavorful stir-fry featuring tender soy-glazed beef and savory garlic mushrooms, all tossed in a glossy umami-packed sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights and pairs beautifully with rice or noodles.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 10 oz cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • Marinade:
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Stir-Fry Sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Sear beef in a single layer for 1–2 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add remaining oil to the pan. Stir-fry mushrooms for 2–3 minutes until golden and moisture is released.
  4. Add garlic and ginger, stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Return beef to the pan. Add stir-fry sauce and toss everything together.
  6. Cook 1–2 minutes more until sauce thickens and coats beef and mushrooms.
  7. Remove from heat, garnish with green onions, and serve hot with rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Use shiitake mushrooms for a deeper flavor.
  • Add bell peppers, snow peas, or broccoli for variety.
  • Add chili flakes or chili paste for a spicy kick.
  • Substitute beef with chicken if desired.
  • Double the sauce if you prefer extra sauciness.
