This savory sausage, gravy, and biscuit pie combines creamy seasoned sausage gravy with flaky puff pastry for a comforting, all-in-one dish. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or cozy dinners, it’s hearty, flavorful, and easy to make.
Ingredients
- 1 pound halal ground sausage (beef or chicken, mild or spicy)
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground sage
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 package puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage for 7–10 minutes until browned, breaking it into crumbles.
- Sprinkle in flour and stir for 2 minutes.
- Slowly stir in milk and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring, until thickened.
- Season with salt, pepper, sage, and red pepper flakes. Let cool slightly.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a 9-inch pie dish with one sheet of puff pastry.
- Pour in the sausage gravy and spread evenly.
- Top with second sheet of puff pastry, trim and crimp edges, and cut small slits for steam.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and puffed. Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Gravy should be thick but spreadable before filling the pie.
- Add shredded cheese or herbs for extra flavor.
- Cool gravy slightly before adding to prevent soggy crust.
