Description

This pure maple candy recipe uses just one ingredient — maple syrup — to create melt-in-your-mouth confections with deep maple flavor. Optional walnuts add texture, making this a perfect treat or homemade gift.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pure maple syrup
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Attach a candy thermometer to a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan. Pour in the maple syrup and bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
  2. Continue boiling until the syrup reaches 235 °F (110 °C).
  3. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool undisturbed until it reaches 175 °F (80 °C), about 10 minutes.
  4. Stir the syrup rapidly and continuously with a wooden spoon until it becomes thick, creamy, and lighter in color (about 5 minutes).
  5. Stir in chopped walnuts, if using.
  6. Quickly pour the mixture into candy molds and let it cool at room temperature until set.
  7. Unmold the candies and store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Use a large saucepan to avoid boiling over.
  • A candy thermometer is essential for precise results.
  • Do not stir while the syrup is cooling — wait until it reaches 175 °F before stirring.
  • Chopped nuts are optional but add texture and flavor.
  • Store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container.
