A flavorful pressed Italian-style sandwich made with crusty ciabatta, olive tapenade, halal deli meats, mozzarella, and marinated vegetables—perfect for make-ahead meals, picnics, and easy lunches.
Ingredients
- 1 ciabatta loaf
- 1/2 cup olive tapenade
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/4 pound thinly sliced halal spicy beef or turkey deli slices
- 1/4 pound halal beef salami or turkey salami, thinly sliced
- 3 ounces thinly sliced halal smoked turkey or halal roast beef
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced
- 1 roasted red bell pepper, chopped
- 6 ounces marinated artichoke hearts, drained
- 8 fresh basil leaves, torn
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Slice the ciabatta loaf in half lengthwise.
- Spread olive tapenade evenly over the bottom half.
- Drizzle the top half with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
- Layer the bottom half with deli slices, salami, smoked turkey or roast beef, mozzarella, roasted red pepper, artichokes, and basil.
- Season with black pepper.
- Place the top half over the filling.
- Wrap tightly in plastic wrap or foil.
- Place a heavy object on top (2–4 pounds).
- Let sit for 30 minutes to 2 hours.
- Unwrap, slice into 8 portions, and serve.

- Pressing enhances flavor and improves slicing.
- Drain vegetables well to prevent sogginess.
