Description

Soft and chewy peanut butter cookie bars loaded with melty chocolate chips, combining rich peanut butter flavor with the ease of a simple slice-and-serve dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (250 g) creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups (220 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups (270 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line or grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together softened butter and peanut butter until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add granulated sugar and brown sugar, beating until creamy.
  4. Mix in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
  7. Fold in chocolate chips evenly.
  8. Spread dough evenly into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 25–30 minutes until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Cool completely before slicing into bars.

Notes

  • Avoid overbaking to keep bars soft and chewy.
  • Natural or crunchy peanut butter can be used for texture variation.
  • Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top before baking for added contrast.
  • Bars freeze well for up to 3 months.
  • Allow full cooling before cutting for clean slices.
