Description
A rich, chocolatey no-bake slice with a crunchy biscuit base, bursts of Maltesers, and a smooth chocolate topping that’s perfect for make-ahead desserts and sharing.
Ingredients
- 150 g milk or dark chocolate, chopped
- 100 g butter
- 395 g sweetened condensed milk
- 250 g plain sweet biscuits, roughly crushed
- 1/2 cup desiccated coconut (40 g)
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 cup Maltesers, halved
- 225 g milk or dark chocolate, chopped (for topping)
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- Line a 25 cm square slice tin with baking paper, lightly greasing the tin so the paper sticks.
- Crush the biscuits in a food processor until you have a mix of crumbs and small chunks. Set aside.
- Carefully halve the Maltesers with a sharp knife and set aside.
- In a large saucepan over low heat, combine the chopped chocolate, butter, and sweetened condensed milk. Stir frequently until melted and smooth.
- Remove from the heat and allow the mixture to cool for about 5 minutes.
- Add the crushed biscuits, desiccated coconut, cocoa powder, and halved Maltesers. Mix well until evenly combined.
- Press the mixture firmly into the prepared tin and smooth the top. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Melt the topping chocolate in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each burst. Stir in the vegetable oil.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the chilled base and spread evenly. Tap the tin gently to level.
- Refrigerate for several hours until fully set, then slice and serve.
Notes
- Let the base cool slightly before adding Maltesers to prevent them melting.
- Use a warm knife for clean slices.
- The vegetable oil helps prevent the topping from cracking.
- Best served chilled.
