Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 500 g ground beef or ground chicken
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 800 g canned crushed tomatoes
- 5 cups beef or chicken broth
- 200 g lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or basil
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add ground meat and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Season with salt, black pepper, oregano, basil, and paprika, and mix well.
- Add tomato paste and cook for 1–2 minutes to deepen flavor.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes and broth, stir, and bring to a gentle boil.
- Add broken lasagna noodles and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for 10–12 minutes until pasta is tender.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Ladle into bowls and top with ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan, and fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
- Swap beef with ground chicken or turkey for a lighter option.
- For a vegetarian version, use lentils or mixed vegetables and vegetable broth.
- Add chili flakes for a spicy variation.
