Description

Hungarian-style Fasírt are crispy, golden meat patties with a tender, flavorful interior made from seasoned ground meat and softened bread. A comforting and versatile dish perfect for everyday meals.

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef (or a mix of beef and chicken)
  • 2 slices white bread
  • 100 ml milk
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)
  • oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak the bread in milk for 5 minutes, then squeeze out excess liquid.
  2. In a bowl, combine ground meat, soaked bread, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, paprika, parsley, and breadcrumbs.
  3. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  4. Shape the mixture into oval or round patties.
  5. Coat each patty lightly in breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  7. Fry patties for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Drain on paper towels and serve warm.
