Description

Soft, fluffy pull-apart rolls brushed with a sweet honey butter glaze. These golden rolls are perfect for holidays, dinner parties, or cozy meals at home.

Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
  • ½ cup warm water (110°F)
  • ½ cup whole milk, warmed
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • For the glaze:
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp whole milk

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl or stand mixer, whisk together flour and salt. Add the bloomed yeast mixture, warm milk, melted butter, oil, and honey.
  3. Mix with a paddle attachment until combined into a shaggy dough. Switch to a dough hook and knead for 6–8 minutes until smooth and slightly sticky.
  4. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1.5–2 hours).
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into 12–16 equal pieces. Shape into smooth balls and place in a greased baking dish with space between each.
  6. Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes, until puffy.
  7. Preheat oven to 375 °F (190 °C). Meanwhile, melt butter with honey and milk to make the glaze.
  8. Brush half the glaze over the risen rolls. Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  9. Brush with remaining glaze while still hot. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Swap honey for maple syrup for a deeper, richer sweetness.
  • Add cinnamon to the glaze for a breakfast-style version.
  • Mix fresh herbs like rosemary into the dough for a savory variation.
  • Use vegan butter and plant-based milk for a dairy-free alternative.
  • Make the dough ahead and refrigerate overnight to bake fresh the next day.
