Ingredients
- 14 oz angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 21 oz cherry pie filling
- 3.4 oz box instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1½ cups whole milk
- 1 cup sour cream
- 8 oz whipped topping (e.g. Cool Whip), thawed
- ¼ cup sliced almonds (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Cut angel food cake into 1-inch cubes with a serrated knife.
- Layer half of the cake cubes in the bottom of an 8×8-inch baking dish.
- Spoon half of the cherry pie filling over the cake layer.
- Add the remaining cake cubes on top.
- In a bowl, whisk together vanilla pudding mix, whole milk, and sour cream until smooth and thickened (1–3 minutes).
- Spread pudding mixture evenly over the cake.
- Top with the whipped topping in an even layer.
- Spoon remaining cherry pie filling over the top and gently swirl, if desired.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours, preferably overnight.
- Before serving, sprinkle with sliced almonds if using. Slice and enjoy chilled.
Notes
- Swap cherry pie filling with strawberry, blueberry, or peach for a different flavor profile.
- Use cubed pound cake for a richer variation.
- Greek yogurt can replace sour cream for a lighter twist.
- Add almond extract for extra depth of flavor.
