Description

Grilled plums are a quick and flavorful summer treat. The grill caramelizes their natural sugars, enhancing their sweetness and adding a subtle smokiness. Perfect as a side, dessert topping, or snack, they’re versatile and ready in minutes.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil, plus more for the grill

2 to 4 medium plums

Instructions

  1. Clean and oil grill grates, then preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 3–4 seconds hand test above the grate).
  2. Rinse and dry the plums. Cut in half around the pits and remove the pits.
  3. Brush cut sides of plums with oil.
  4. Place plums cut-side down on the hot grill. Cover and cook for about 5 minutes until tender and grill-marked.
  5. Serve hot or warm based on your preference.

Notes

  • Use firm, slightly underripe plums to help them hold their shape.
  • Add flaky salt, black pepper, or herbs for a savory version.
  • Top with vanilla ice cream, yogurt, or ricotta for dessert.
  • Sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, or cardamom for a caramelized finish.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days; reheat in a skillet or enjoy cold.
