Description

These Greek yogurt bagels are a quick, healthy twist on a classic favorite. Packed with protein and no yeast required, they’re perfect for a busy breakfast or snack. Customizable with sweet or savory toppings, they’re easy to prepare in under 40 minutes.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)

2 tsp baking powder

¼ tsp salt

1 cup Greek yogurt (thick consistency recommended)

1 egg (for egg wash)

Optional toppings: Everything bagel seasoning, cinnamon, shredded cheese, garlic & herbs, chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. For cinnamon bagels, add 2 tsp cinnamon.
  3. Stir in Greek yogurt with a spatula until the dough begins to form. Knead together with your hands.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each into a ball, slightly flatten, and create a hole in the center with a spoon handle or fingers. Alternatively, roll the dough into a log and connect the ends to form a circle.
  5. Whisk the egg and brush over the top of each bagel. Sprinkle with your preferred toppings.
  6. Place the bagels on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 22-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Let the bagels cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a classic everything bagel, sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning.
  • For a sweet variation, add cinnamon sugar for a spiced flavor.
  • Mix shredded cheese and dried herbs into the dough for a savory twist.
  • For a treat, fold chocolate chips into the dough and top with sea salt.
  • Store at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week. Freeze for up to 2 months.
