Ingredients

  • For the Pudding:
  • 4 cups soft bread cubes
  • 2 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • 1 ¾ cups milk
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Vanilla Sauce:
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup butter
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 7×11-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine bread cubes, apples, and raisins.
  3. In a saucepan, heat milk, brown sugar, and butter until butter melts. Pour over bread mixture and stir to coat.
  4. Transfer to prepared dish.
  5. Whisk eggs, cinnamon, and vanilla together. Pour evenly over bread mixture.
  6. Bake 40–50 minutes, until center is set and apples are tender.
  7. For sauce: In a saucepan, combine milk, butter, white sugar, and brown sugar. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  8. Serve pudding warm with vanilla sauce drizzled on top.
