Description

Elegant bite-sized puff pastry tartlets filled with tangy goat cheese and sweet balsamic-caramelized onions. Light, flaky, and full of flavor, they make a perfect holiday or party appetizer.

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry sheets
  • Crumbled goat cheese
  • 1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • Olive oil
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • Honey
  • Fresh rosemary
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).
  2. Cook onions in olive oil over medium heat until caramelized. Add balsamic vinegar, reduce slightly, then stir in honey, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Let cool slightly.
  3. Cut puff pastry into 3-inch circles and fit into a mini muffin tin to form tart shells.
  4. Add 1/2 teaspoon goat cheese into each tart shell.
  5. Spoon cooled onion mixture over the cheese.
  6. Bake 10–12 minutes, until pastry is golden and flaky.
  7. Cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Swap goat cheese with brie or blue cheese for variation.
  • Add fig jam or sautéed apples beneath the onion layer for a sweet twist.
  • Use gluten-free puff pastry for dietary needs.
  • Assemble ahead, refrigerate, or freeze until ready to bake.
  • Reheat leftovers at 350°F until warmed through.
