Description
Funnel Cake Bites are a bite-sized take on the classic carnival favorite—crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, and dusted with powdered sugar. Perfect for parties or indulgent snacking.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1½ cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
- In a separate bowl, beat eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Batter should be thick but pourable.
- Heat about 3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Transfer the batter to a piping bag or zip-top bag with a small hole cut in one corner.
- Pipe small dollops or spirals of batter into the hot oil in batches.
- Fry each batch for 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
Notes
- Don’t overcrowd the pan—fry in batches for even cooking.
- Use a thermometer to maintain the oil temperature at 350°F for best results.
- Add cinnamon or citrus zest for extra flavor in the batter.
- Reheat in the oven for crispiness—avoid the microwave.
- Use a fine-mesh sieve for a clean and even powdered sugar finish.
