Description

Fried halloumi with honey is a quick and irresistible appetizer that balances salty, crispy cheese with warm, sweet honey and aromatic spices. Ready in just 10 minutes, it’s perfect for entertaining or a gourmet snack.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz Halloumi cheese
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 1/2 tsp Aleppo pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Sumac
  • 1 tsp Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Slice the halloumi into ½-inch thick pieces and pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. Heat olive oil in a nonstick pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Fry the halloumi slices for about 2 minutes per side, until golden and crispy.
  4. Warm the honey slightly and drizzle over the fried halloumi.
  5. Sprinkle Aleppo pepper, sumac, and sesame seeds on top.
  6. Serve immediately while the halloumi is hot and creamy inside.

Notes

  • Cut halloumi into sticks for a ‘fries’ variation.
  • Swap Aleppo pepper with red pepper flakes for a different spice profile.
  • Try chili-infused honey or pomegranate molasses instead of regular honey.
  • Fried halloumi is best served fresh but can be stored for up to 2 days.
  • Use leftovers cold in salads or sandwiches.
