Description

Fried Halloumi with Honey is a quick and elegant appetizer featuring crispy, golden cheese drizzled with warm, spicy honey and finished with aromatic spices. It’s a sweet, salty, and satisfying dish that’s ready in just 10 minutes.

Ingredients

  • Halloumi cheese
  • Olive oil (extra virgin)
  • Honey
  • Aleppo pepper (or red pepper flakes)
  • Sumac
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Slice halloumi into ½-inch thick pieces and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Heat olive oil in a nonstick pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Add halloumi slices and fry for 2 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  4. Warm the honey in a microwave or small saucepan.
  5. Transfer fried halloumi to a plate and drizzle with warm honey.
  6. Sprinkle Aleppo pepper, sumac, and sesame seeds over the top.
  7. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

  • Cut halloumi into sticks for “fries.”
  • Substitute Aleppo pepper with red pepper flakes or chili oil.
  • Add lemon juice or za’atar for extra brightness.
  • Best served immediately; leftovers can be chopped into salads.
  • Halloumi can be baked at 400°F for 10–12 minutes as a lighter option.
