Description

A classic French toast recipe featuring a rich, fluffy batter enhanced with cinnamon and sugar—quick to whip up and delightfully comforting.

Ingredients

4 large eggs

2/3 cup milk

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla extract

8 thick slices of bread

Instructions

  1. Preheat a griddle to 350°F or heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. In a blender, combine eggs, milk, flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla until smooth. (If whisking by hand, mix flour with eggs first, then add the remaining ingredients.)
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the batter, coating both sides thoroughly.
  4. Place coated bread slices on the hot, greased griddle or skillet.
  5. Cook each side for a few minutes until golden brown.
  6. Remove from heat and serve warm with syrup, butter, or powdered sugar.

Notes

  • Use slightly stale bread for better absorption.
  • Try dairy-free alternatives like almond or oat milk.
  • Add orange zest, nutmeg, or almond extract for extra flavor.
  • Top with berries, whipped cream, or flavored syrups.
  • Freeze cooked slices for up to 3 months for easy breakfasts.
