Description

These falafel sliders with tahini slaw are a Mediterranean-inspired handheld delight featuring crispy falafel patties layered with hummus, tomato, greens, and a creamy, nutty cabbage slaw on soft slider buns. Perfect for parties, dinners, or appetizers, they’re flavorful, customizable, and vegetarian-friendly.

Ingredients

  • 1 box falafel mix (or about 15 prepared falafel balls)
  • Water (if using dry mix)
  • Olive oil (for brushing or frying, optional)
  • 2 cups shredded red cabbage
  • ¼ cup tahini
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 810 slider buns or small pita rounds
  • ½ cup hummus
  • 12 tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup arugula, spinach, or mixed greens
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare falafel according to package or recipe. Form into small patties and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes, air fry for 10–12 minutes, or shallow fry until golden and crisp.
  2. In a bowl, whisk tahini, lemon juice, garlic, water, salt, and pepper until smooth. Toss with shredded cabbage and let rest 10 minutes.
  3. Optional: lightly toast slider buns or pita for extra texture.
  4. Assemble sliders: spread hummus on bottom bun, add greens, tomato slice, and a spoonful of tahini slaw. Top with falafel and garnish with fresh herbs. Cover with top bun.
  5. Serve immediately while falafel is warm.

Notes

  • For extra richness, add crumbled feta or goat cheese.
  • Use pickled onions or cucumbers for a tangy crunch.
  • Swap buns for lettuce wraps or flatbread for lighter options.
  • Add harissa or hot sauce for a spicy variation.
  • Store falafel and slaw separately; assemble sliders just before serving to avoid sogginess.
