Description

These easy sweet flatbreads are quick to make, requiring no yeast, and are pan-fried until golden before being brushed with honey butter and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. They’re warm, crisp, soft inside, and perfect as a sweet treat or snack.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix flour and salt. Gradually add boiling water, stirring until a loose dough forms.
  2. Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for 2 minutes until smooth. Cover and rest for 30 minutes.
  3. Divide dough into tablespoon-sized pieces. Roll or press each into a thin oval or round shape.
  4. In a small bowl, combine melted butter and honey. Set aside.
  5. Heat 1/4 inch of vegetable oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  6. Fry flatbreads a few at a time for 20–25 seconds per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  7. While warm, brush each flatbread with honey butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  8. Serve warm for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Roll the dough very thin (2–3 mm) for a tender and crisp result.
  • Try maple syrup or agave instead of honey for a different sweetness.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat in a skillet or oven.
