Ingredients
- 4 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice, optional
- 1 small pinch of salt, optional
Instructions
- Place a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
- Add sliced apples and stir to coat evenly. Cook 3–4 minutes until apples begin to soften.
- Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon over apples. Stir gently to coat.
- Cook an additional 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently, until apples are fork-tender and sauce is thick and glossy.
- If desired, add lemon juice or a pinch of salt. Stir and taste.
- Remove from heat and serve warm.
Notes
- Substitute maple syrup for brown sugar for a different sweetness.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg or allspice for extra warmth.
- Add a splash of vanilla at the end for deeper aroma.
- Use coconut oil instead of butter for a dairy-free version.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days; reheat gently.
